Karen Blumenthal Certified
Karen Blumenthal is one of the guiding teachers at the Long Island Center for Mindfulness founded by former Buddhist monk Cory Muscara. She accepts private students, guides walking through nature meditation classes, holds monthly sunrise meditations, teaches Koru mindfulness classes and runs private retreats. She is a sought after speaker for local colleges and public schools on Long Island. Karen is a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association at UCLA. Karen brings 36 years of public school education experience and holds a Masters Degree from Adelphi University in physical education and health. Her passion is to help others reach their full potential. In 2017 her interest in well being and life’s transitions brought her out to Death Valley California, and in the Native American tradition she completed a 10 day Vision Quest. She has studied meditation with SN Goenka, Joseph Goldstein, Tara Brach, Cory Muscara, Jessica Morey and Bhante Nanda Thero. Karen has participated in four 10 day silent retreats. In 2018 she took a 12 day pilgrimage with Bhante Nanda to Sri Lanka. While there she was able to study more deeply the teachings of the Thai Forest Tradition. She holds Certifications in Applied Positive Psychology developed by MAAP practitioners from the University of Pennsylvania, Koru Mindfulness developed by Doctors at Duke University, and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education, a not for profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of teens, parents and professionals .
